Brazauro Resources Corporation is a publicly listed Canadian company (TSX.V: BZO) with gold properties in the Tapajós Mineral Province (TMP) of Pará state in Brazil, one of the most prolific gold districts in the world where unofficial gold production is reported to have reached more than 30 million ounces since the gold discovery in 1958.
The Company made a major gold discovery in 2004 at its 100% controlled 44,525 hectares Tocantinzinho property (TZ). Drilling since that time has expanded the discovery significantly. Out of 159 diamond drill holes, 139 defined gold mineralization. In December 2009, the company announced an updated 43-101 compliant measured resource of 15.834 million tons @ 1.235 g/t gold, indicated resource of 35.572 million tons @ 1.105 g/t gold and an inferred resource of 12.400 million tons @ 0.976 g/t gold for a total of 1.893 million ounces of gold (measured and indicated).
In July 2008, Brazauro signed an option agreement with Eldorado Gold Corporation, whereby Eldorado can earn up to 75% of the TZ project for a total of C$ 123 million in expenditures and cash-payments. Eldorado has until July 2010 to exercise its option to firstly acquire 60% of the project. Since September 2008 Eldorado has been the operator of the project and has completed its drilling program consisting of 62 holes for a total of 19,430 meters. The objectives of Eldorado’s drilling program were to confirm previous drilling results reported by Brazauro, to fill in the mineralized resource model, to investigate the geochemical and physical nature of the wallrock and to provide larger samples for metallurgical testing.
Brazauro continues to explore for other promising properties in the Tapajós region, including the Bom Jardim area for which the company holds 37,653 hectares of Exploration Licenses.
Brazauro has signed three option agreements to acquire 100% of the Piranhas property for a total of 34,533 hectares located just 20 kilometers southwest of the TZ property. Unofficial output of this property has been reported as more than 800,000 ounces of gold in the last forty years.
The company also holds three exploration licenses for a total of 28,720 hectares in the Andorinhas property. This property is located close to the mouth of the Crepori river and lies in another important gold belt in the Tapajós, the north-south trending Ouro Roxo-Canta Galo mega shear zone.
In December 2009, a definitive agreement was signed with Talon Metals under which Brazauro will have the option to acquire the 15,008 hectares Água Branca property. Including Água Branca, Brazauro’s total land position in the Tapajós is of 160,439 hectares. View Brazauro's Properties in the Tapajós. |
